Caruaru Map Poster & Print
Caruaru lies in the agreste, the transitional zone between Pernambuco's humid coast and the dry sertão further west, roughly 130 kilometres inland from Recife. On the map the city appears as a compact core of close-set blocks, crossed by the Ipojuca River and wrapped by highways, with the BR-232 running east toward the coast. Beyond the edges, the pattern loosens into farmland and low hills.
The city is known across Brazil for two things. Its open-air market, the Feira de Caruaru, is one of the largest in the Northeast and has been recognised as part of Brazil's intangible heritage. And each June the city hosts one of the country's largest São João festivals, when forró music and quadrilha dances fill the festival grounds for weeks.
A Caruaru map poster shows the city in its working form: the dense centre where the market spreads across whole blocks, the neighbourhoods growing outward along main roads, and the river line cutting across the grid. Within the city limits lies Alto do Moura, the district associated with Mestre Vitalino and the clay figurines that made the region's folk art famous.

Ipojuca River
A modest river that crosses the urban area, the Ipojuca adds a single irregular line to an otherwise road-dominated map and marks the valley the city grew along.
Road to Recife
The BR-232 leaves the city heading east toward the coast, a strong line that links Caruaru to Recife and explains much of its role as a regional trading hub.
