The regular blocks around the main square and church form the clearest pattern on the map. This colonial-style layout is shared by towns across Mexico.

Ciudad de Huitzuco Map Poster & Print
Ciudad de Huitzuco is the seat of the municipality of Huitzuco de los Figueroa, in the north of Guerrero state in the uplands south of Morelos. On a map the town is a clear grid of streets around a central square and church. At the edges the grid loosens into irregular lanes that follow the ground as it rises toward the surrounding hills.
The area has a long mining history, especially mercury ore, which brought attention to Huitzuco in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The municipality's full name honours the Figueroa family, local figures in the Mexican Revolution. Today the town serves the farming communities of the nearby valleys, and its layout still reflects a market town built around a single central plaza.
A Ciudad de Huitzuco map poster shows how compactly the town sits in its landscape. Blocks are packed around the centre, a few roads leave toward neighbouring towns, and open country presses close on every side. In black and white, the grid and the lines of the hills are enough to describe the place.

Edges on the slopes
Beyond the centre, streets bend and narrow as they climb the surrounding rises, which gives the outer neighbourhoods a looser, more irregular shape.
Roads into the valleys
A handful of roads leave town toward neighbouring communities and the highway corridor near Iguala. They appear as long lines across open, sparsely built land.
