Courtenay Map Poster & Print
Courtenay sits on the east coast of Vancouver Island, in the Comox Valley. From above, water shapes the town: the Puntledge and Tsolum rivers meet in the centre to form the short Courtenay River, which widens into an estuary opening onto Comox Harbour. Bridges link the neighbourhoods on each bank.
The downtown lies near the confluence, with residential streets climbing gently to the west toward forested slopes and, farther away, the peaks of Strathcona. In 1988 the fossil of an elasmosaur was found along the Puntledge River, and it is now a central exhibit of the local museum.
A Courtenay map poster brings together the rivers, bridges and the ordered suburban streets of a small Pacific Northwest town. The estuary provides a strong, open shape at the edge of the frame, while the curving rivers run through the centre of the composition.

Estuary and harbour
The Courtenay River broadens into a tidal estuary before reaching Comox Harbour, creating a wide open area of water and marsh along the shore.
Bridged neighbourhoods
Several bridges cross the rivers, connecting the downtown with residential districts and giving the poster a network of short, clear crossings.
