Contour-following streets
Most roads in Dargeçit run across the slope rather than straight up it, so the street plan forms long curved bands stacked above one another. On paper this reads almost like a topographic drawing.

Dargeçit Map Poster & Print
Dargeçit sits in the eastern part of Mardin Province, on the limestone uplands long known as Tur Abdin. From above, the town looks less like a planned grid and more like a set of terraces. Its streets follow the contours of the slope, and short connecting lanes climb between them. The built-up area thins quickly at the edges, where open ground and dry stream beds take over.
The town was known historically as Kerburan, and the surrounding plateau has been home to Syriac, Kurdish and Arab communities for many centuries. On a map, that long habitation shows up as roads that feel inherited rather than drawn: routes follow ridgelines and valley floors, joining scattered villages across the uplands. The main road through the centre is the clearest line on the page.
A Dargeçit map poster keeps the picture simple. The dense cluster of the centre, the looser rings of newer housing and the roads running out into the hills sit in black on white. Without shading or labels, you can see the town's basic logic, a settlement shaped by its gradient, where every street has to deal with the hill it sits on.

Tur Abdin plateau
The town belongs to the upland region of Tur Abdin, whose name comes from Syriac. Around the edge of the map, roads fan out toward the villages of this historic plateau.
Valley approaches
Routes into town come up through the valleys that cut the plateau. Each one appears on the map as a single winding line that tightens into the street network as it reaches the centre.
