Klaeng sits in the east of Rayong province, where the road network thins out and fields and plantations take over. From above, the town reads as a tight cluster of streets gathered around a main road, with lanes running off it and quickly giving way to open land. The built-up area is small and close-knit, and that gives the town a clear, readable outline on paper.
Beyond the town, the wider district runs south to the shore of the Gulf of Thailand, so a map of the area can take in both the grid of the town and the soft line of the coast. Between the two lie roads, plots of farmland and scattered villages.
