Pequabuck River
The river meanders across town as the main natural line on the map. Its curves stand out against the straighter roads and add movement to the composition.

Plainville Map Poster & Print
Plainville sits in Hartford County, central Connecticut, on the relatively flat valley floor that gave the town its name. On the map, the difference between the level centre and the higher ground around it shows up quietly. Streets spread easily across the plain, and ridges to the east and west shape the town's outer edges.
The Pequabuck River winds across the town and adds a soft, irregular line to an otherwise ordinary suburban street pattern. Plainville was also a stop on the Farmington Canal in the nineteenth century, and railways later followed similar corridors. Traces of those old transport routes help explain the directions of some of the main roads.
A Plainville map poster keeps the essentials. The small town centre sits where main routes cross, residential streets loop outward, and the river threads through it all. It's a quiet, balanced composition that looks the way many people picture a small New England town.

Valley-floor plain
The flat land that named the town let streets spread out evenly. On the poster, this makes a calm, open pattern with no sharp changes of direction in the centre.
Old corridors
The routes of the former Farmington Canal and the later railway run through the area. They leave long, straight lines that differ from the curving residential streets around them.
