Don and Rother confluence
The two rivers meet just below the town centre. Their channels, together with the canal and the railway lines, form a set of roughly parallel curves along the valley floor.

Rotherham Map Poster & Print
Rotherham is in South Yorkshire, where the River Rother joins the River Don, just northeast of Sheffield. The town centre sits on rising ground above the meeting of the two rivers, with streets closely packed around Rotherham Minster. From there, terraced suburbs spread over the valley sides, and the flat valley floor is taken up by railways, canal and the long outlines of industrial sites.
Across the Don stands the Chapel of Our Lady on Rotherham Bridge, one of only a few medieval bridge chapels left in England. Downstream, the old Templeborough steelworks has become the Magna science centre, and its huge shed is still a clear rectangle on the map. The M1 and M18 motorways pass close to the town, and their junctions curve over the hills to the west and south.
A Rotherham map poster shows the layers of a northern industrial town: rivers and a canal on the valley floor, a dense old centre, and rows of terraced streets climbing the slopes around it. It is detailed and shaped by work, and its history of steel and water is easy to see.

Bridge chapel
The medieval Chapel of Our Lady stands on Rotherham Bridge over the Don. It is one of only a few bridge chapels still standing in England and marks the historic crossing.
Templeborough works
The former steelworks, now the Magna science centre, shows up as a very long rectangular block beside the Don, left from the town's steelmaking past.
