Shiguai Map Poster & Print
Shiguai is a district of Baotou in Inner Mongolia, lying east of the city's main urban area among the hills of the Yin Mountains. From above it looks nothing like a gridded plain city. Built-up areas cluster in valleys and along the roads that follow them, while ridges and dry slopes separate one settlement from the next, leaving wide empty spaces across the map.
The district has long been associated with coal mining, and its settlements grew around that work rather than around a single historic centre. The result is a stretched, linear pattern: roads, rail lines and housing follow the valley floors, with industrial sites at intervals. Where the terrain opens a little, streets form small, tight blocks before giving way again to the hills.
The hills of the district also hold Wudang Lamasery, one of the largest Tibetan Buddhist monasteries in Inner Mongolia, its white buildings stacked against a slope. A Shiguai map poster captures this scattered, terrain-led geography, where the empty spaces between lines matter as much as the lines themselves and the shape of the ground can be read in every road.

Mining settlements
Where settlements grew up around mining, streets form compact, regular blocks of housing, small dense patches set against the open terrain around them.
Wudang Lamasery
The monastery sits in a mountain valley within the district, its compact group of buildings and approach road forming a distinct small cluster among the hills.

Zašto Shiguai
Karta koja nešto znači
For people who grew up in Shiguai or worked in its mines, this map is a way to hold on to a place that rarely appears on posters. Its scattered shape, pulled apart by hills, is unusual and makes a striking, almost abstract composition on a wall.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line with a family name, a year or a street, and pick from five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. A free watermarked preview lets you check the framing before buying the $9 HD files or a printed poster.
