Valley settlement
The town stretches along the valley floor. Its long, narrow outline shows how much the surrounding mountains limit where people can build.

Shihui Map Poster & Print
Shihui lies in the mountainous southeast of Chongqing, a region of steep ridges, deep valleys and fast rivers stretching toward the borders with Hubei, Hunan and Guizhou. In terrain like this, towns grow wherever there is level ground. On a map, Shihui appears as a narrow, elongated settlement that follows a valley, with streets squeezed between water and hillside.
Roads here almost never run straight. They snake along river bends and climb the slopes in switchbacks, and the town's outline is shaped by the mountains around it. Beyond the built-up area, the map becomes a web of thin roads threading through high ground, with small villages set wherever the land allows.
A Shihui map poster is best suited to people from the town and its surrounding villages, including the many who now work in Chongqing's main districts or elsewhere in China. It is a portrait of a mountain place, where every road bends and the valley decides the shape of home.
