Sugar Hill Map Poster & Print
Sugar Hill lies in northern Gwinnett County, Georgia, in the rolling Piedmont country northeast of Atlanta. Its name is usually traced to a local story about a wagon that spilled its load of sugar on a hill in the nineteenth century. On a map the city is less a grid than a web: roads follow ridges and valleys, and subdivisions branch off them in short, curling spurs.
The Chattahoochee River runs along the western side of the area, and the southern reaches of Lake Lanier lie just to the north, so water frames the city even where streets do not reach it. Closer in, a compact downtown has grown in recent years around a civic centre and outdoor amphitheatre, forming the densest knot of streets on the plan.
A Sugar Hill map poster shows a suburban landscape that still follows the terrain. Cul-de-sacs curl into wooded slopes, collector roads bend to avoid creeks, and the few straight lines tend to be major highways passing through. The result is an intricate, organic drawing that rewards a closer look.

Chattahoochee edge
The river curves along the western side of the area, a strong natural line that sets a boundary for the web of roads to its east.
Branching subdivisions
Short curving streets and cul-de-sacs branch off the main roads across the city, following the rolling Piedmont terrain and giving the map a delicate, leaf-like texture.
