Irrigation canals
Long, straight channels carry water across the plain. They are the most striking lines on the map and set out the rhythm of the surrounding fields.

Usta Muhammad Map Poster & Print
Usta Muhammad lies on the flat alluvial plains of eastern Balochistan, close to the border with Sindh. The land here is low and level, and from above it is shaped mainly by water brought in from the Indus system. Irrigation canals and field boundaries form long straight lines across the countryside. The town itself is a compact cluster of streets where roads from the surrounding farmland meet.
The area is agricultural, and canal irrigation makes crops such as rice possible in what would otherwise be a very hot, dry plain. That relationship between water and land is easy to see on a map. The Usta Muhammad map poster shows a settlement surrounded by geometry, where engineered channels divide the plain into ordered strips.
In black and white the effect is close to an abstract drawing. A dense centre sits inside a lattice of canals and tracks that fades towards the edges of the frame. This quiet, structural image says a good deal about how people live on the plains between the Kirthar hills and the Indus.

Compact town centre
The town's streets gather tightly at the heart of the print. Roads from nearby villages and farmland meet here and form the densest cluster.
Level farmland
Flat, cultivated land spreads in every direction. On paper it shows as open space divided by tracks and field edges, which gives the composition a calm, even texture.
