Vengara is a town in Malappuram district, in the northern part of Kerala. It sits inland from the Arabian Sea coast. The land here rises and falls in low laterite hills, and green valley floors lie between them. Roads follow the high ground, and houses spread along them in long, loose lines rather than tight blocks.
This pattern is typical of the region. There is no sharp line where town ends and village begins. A small commercial core sits where the main roads meet, and from there homes, coconut groves and fields run outward in every direction. Seen from above, the settled land is a dense, branching network with no single edge.
