Plain geometry
The flat terrain allows long, straight roads and rectangular field plots. On the map they create a steady rhythm of lines around the town.

Yangtun Map Poster & Print
Yangtun lies in the far northwest of Jiangsu province, in the Xuzhou area, on the broad flat plain that stretches toward Shandong. The land here is almost level, and from above the settlement is framed by a regular mosaic of fields, drainage ditches and rural roads. Streets in the town follow the same orderly logic, laid out largely in straight lines on the open ground.
This part of northern Jiangsu is agricultural country with lakes and canals nearby. Water management has shaped the landscape as much as the towns have. Canals and field boundaries divide the land into rectangles, and villages sit along the roads that cross them. Yangtun is one of the market centres for this rural surrounding area.
A Yangtun map poster shows how a plains town fits into its landscape. The compact built-up area sits within a larger geometric pattern of farmland, and the straight lines repeat outward in every direction. The result is calm and graphic, closer to an abstract composition than a busy city plan.

Water channels
Ditches and small canals cross the surrounding farmland. They appear as thin lines that echo the road network and tie the settlement to the land.
Compact centre
The town's streets gather into a dense core that stands out clearly against the open fields, a simple and legible focal point for the print.
