Yby Yaú Map Poster & Print
Yby Yaú is a town in the department of Concepción, in northern Paraguay. Its name comes from Guaraní, the language spoken by most Paraguayans alongside Spanish. The town grew at an important road junction, and from above the highways that pass through it are the defining lines of the map, long and straight, reaching across open country.
Around the junction, the town is laid out in a fairly regular grid of wide blocks. Beyond it lies a landscape of ranchland, savanna and remnants of forest, crossed by smaller roads and streams. A Yby Yaú map poster shows the town as a compact node at the meeting point of routes that link the region with the rest of the country and the Brazilian border.
The composition is simple and strong: a grid, crossing highways and a lot of open land. There are few dense features, which gives the map a spacious, graphic quality. In black and white, the long roads read almost like lines on a chart, and the town sits at their intersection.
