Valley-floor core
The densest streets gather on the flattest available ground, so the town's shape follows the valley rather than forming a neat square or circle.

Zhonghe Map Poster & Print
Northeastern Chongqing is a land of ridges and deep valleys, and Zhonghe follows that terrain closely. On a map, the built-up area stretches along the lower ground where roads and streams find a level path. The slopes all around are marked only by thin, looping tracks linking farms and hamlets.
This makes the street pattern very different from a planned lowland city. Roads bend to follow contours, blocks are irregular, and the town thins out quickly wherever the land rises. The outline of the settlement effectively traces the shape of the valley it sits in.
A Zhonghe map poster turns that constraint into a strong graphic image. A dense core in the valley, fine lines climbing the hillsides, and wide empty areas where mountains take over. It is a portrait of a place shaped more by landform than by any master plan.

Contour roads
Outside the centre, roads wind back and forth along the hillsides, drawing curving lines that hint at the steep relief without any shading.
Scattered hamlets
Small clusters of buildings dot the surrounding slopes, linked by narrow tracks, typical of the farmed uplands of this part of Chongqing.
