Motorway junction
The A-4 from Madrid and the A-44 towards Jaén meet at Bailén. Their sweeping curves and interchanges frame the small, dense centre like a pair of drafting strokes.

A térkép
Bailén Map Poster & Print
Bailén sits on the northern edge of the Guadalquivir lowlands in the province of Jaén, where the old road from Madrid comes down from Sierra Morena into Andalusia. From above, the town is a tight, irregular core of short streets with newer blocks spreading outward. The A-4 motorway and the A-44 towards Jaén and Granada draw long lines across the surrounding fields.
Bailén's name is attached to a date in European history. In July 1808, Spanish forces under General Castaños defeated a French army commanded by Dupont near the town. It was one of the first major defeats of Napoleon's troops in open battle. The battle took place in the gently rolling countryside around the town, which on a map reads as a quiet grid of rural tracks.
The town is also known for ceramics and brick-making, an industry that uses the local clay. A Bailén map poster captures that working character in clean black lines on a white ground. It shows the dense centre, the industrial edges along the highways and the fine pattern of olive-grove lanes that fill the land in every direction.

Compact old centre
The historic core is a knot of short, angled streets around the main church and squares. On the poster it reads as a fine, darker cluster within the lighter outer blocks.
Olive-grove countryside
Beyond the built edge, the land breaks up into the thin lines of farm tracks and field boundaries typical of Jaén province, where olive groves cover most of the land on the map.
