Valley roads
The main routes run through the valleys and along the lower slopes. On the map they appear as long, winding lines that tie the scattered neighbourhoods together.

Bariq Map Poster & Print
Bariq lies in the 'Asir Region in the southwest of Saudi Arabia, in the mountainous country that separates the Red Sea coastal plain from the high interior plateau. This landscape of ridges, wadis and terraced slopes differs sharply from the flat desert many people associate with the Arabian Peninsula, and it shapes almost everything about how the town is laid out.
From above, the settlement follows the land rather than a planned grid. Main roads run along valley floors and around hillsides, and neighbourhoods spread where the terrain allows. Between the built-up areas lie open, uneven ground and dry stream beds, which only carry water after rain. The result is an irregular, branching street pattern.
A Bariq map poster shows a town defined by its setting. The street network thins out towards the edges, where it meets steeper ground, and the main routes that connect Bariq to the rest of the region become the strongest lines on the page. In a simple black-and-white design, those mountain roads are what give the place its character.

Wadis
Dry riverbeds cut across the area and shape where people build. Even when empty, they leave clear gaps and curves in the pattern of streets.
Mountain edges
Towards the outskirts, the street network breaks up as the terrain rises. These empty spaces give the town a ragged outline that reflects the surrounding mountains.

Miért Bariq?
Egy térkép, ami jelent valamit
Bariq is often a place of family origins, holidays in the cooler highlands or a first posting away from the big cities. A map of its winding streets is a quiet way to keep that connection within sight at home.
Personalise the poster with a title, subtitle and coordinates, and choose Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The digital files cost $9 and come in six print sizes, or you can order a matte printed poster with an optional frame.
