The Public Square
Downtown is organised around a central square where Main Street crosses the main north–south route. It is the natural focal point of the map and the place the older street grid radiates from.

Belleville Map Poster & Print
Belleville is laid out on the orderly grid you expect in the American Midwest, but the pattern has a clear centre. Main Street and the main cross streets meet at the Public Square, and the densest blocks gather around it. Farther out, the grid loosens into curving subdivision streets, and the interstate runs along the town's northern side.
Belleville is the county seat of St. Clair County and sits in the Metro East part of Greater St. Louis, southeast of the Mississippi. In the nineteenth century it drew a large wave of German immigrants, and that heritage still shapes the brick houses and churches of its older districts. Scott Air Force Base lies a short distance to the east.
A Belleville map poster shows how steady the street pattern is, and also where it gives way. Richland Creek winds through the town at an angle to the grid, with a green corridor along its banks. Parks and the older neighbourhoods near the square form the finest detail. Toward the edges, the geometry grows looser and more suburban.

Richland Creek
The creek runs through Belleville on a diagonal and ignores the rectilinear streets around it. Its winding line and green banks add a soft, organic curve to an otherwise regular plan.
Grid meets suburb
The compact blocks near the centre gradually give way to curving drives and cul-de-sacs farther out. The poster records the whole history of the town's growth in a single frame.

Miért Belleville?
Egy térkép, ami jelent valamit
Belleville is a town people put down roots in, and plenty of people also pass through it. It is home to longtime St. Clair County families and to many military households stationed nearby. A map of its streets is a lasting way to remember a neighbourhood, a first house or a posting.
You can personalise the title and subtitle, for example with a street name, a move-in date or a family name, and adjust the coordinates line. Then choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand.
