Main road spine
A principal road carries traffic through the town, and most of the street network hangs off it, which gives the print a clear central line to read from.

A térkép
Ben Taieb Map Poster & Print
Ben Taieb lies in the eastern Rif, in Morocco's Oriental region, not far inland from the Mediterranean coast around Nador. The land here is broken into ridges and ravines, and the town's layout responds to it: a main road runs through the centre, and side streets branch off wherever the ground allows, rather than settling into any regular grid.
Like much of the Rif, the area has long ties to emigration, and many families have relatives in Spain, the Netherlands, Belgium and elsewhere in Europe. Newer houses spread along the roads and hillsides beyond the older centre, a pattern of growth shared by many towns across the region and clearly visible when the town is seen from above.
A Ben Taieb map poster works best as a portrait of a small place in a strong landscape. The streets are few and irregular, the surrounding terrain dry and open, and the roads curling away over the hills give the print its shape. It is a map about a town and the ground it stands on, with nothing added.

Irregular side streets
Lanes branch off at varied angles and lengths, following ridges and slopes, and produce a street pattern that looks organic rather than planned on paper.
Rif hills
Around the town, roads wind over folded, dry hills. Their curves add movement to the open spaces of the poster and hint at the terrain lying between them.

Miért Ben Taieb?
Egy térkép, ami jelent valamit
For people from Ben Taieb living far from the Rif, a map of the town is a quiet way to keep home in view. It is personal without being sentimental, and it gives children who grew up elsewhere a clear picture of where the family comes from.
Change the title, add a family name or year as the subtitle, and adjust the coordinates line. Five styles are available, from Classic black & white to Sand, and each $9 purchase includes a 300 DPI PNG and a print-ready PDF in six sizes, with no watermark.
