Shabelle River
The river runs across the map in wide, easy curves, and it is the most prominent feature of the drawing. It also explains why the town grew here.

Buulobarde Map Poster & Print
Buulobarde is a town in the Hiiraan region of central Somalia, on the Shabelle River between Beledweyne and Jowhar. The Shabelle is one of the country's two permanent rivers, and settlement along its course depends on it. On a map, the river is the defining line. It moves slowly across flat ground, and the town sits close beside it.
The built area is low and spread out. Its streets form a loose network rather than a formal grid, and the road that follows the river valley passes through the town, linking it to the other settlements upstream and downstream. Beyond the edge of town, cultivated land along the banks gives way to open plain.
A Buulobarde map poster reduces this to its essentials: the curve of the Shabelle, the cluster of streets and the road that ties them to the rest of the valley. It is a simple, legible composition, well suited to a family home or to anyone who keeps Hiiraan close in memory.

Valley road
The main road follows the Shabelle valley through Buulobarde, a clear line linking the town to Beledweyne upstream and Jowhar downstream.
Low town grid
A loose web of streets spreads out from the river side. It is compact at the centre and becomes sparser toward the surrounding plain.
