Catford is a district in the London Borough of Lewisham, in south-east London. On a map, its centre is a junction. The South Circular Road bends through the town centre, the main roads toward Lewisham and Bromley cross it, and two railway lines run through close together, with stations at Catford and Catford Bridge only a short walk apart.
Water shows up too, though you might not notice it on the ground. The River Ravensbourne and its tributary the Pool River run through the area in green corridors, and Ladywell Fields and the Riverview Walk follow their banks. Around the centre, long terraces of Victorian and Edwardian houses fill the grid-like streets that slope gently up toward Forest Hill and Hither Green.
