Medellín River
The river runs along the valley floor through Copacabana. Its line, paired with the main road beside it, forms the central axis of the composition.

Copacabana Map Poster & Print
Copacabana is one of the municipalities of the Aburrá Valley metropolitan area in Antioquia, just north of Medellín and Bello. The valley is narrow here, and the Medellín River runs along its floor with the main road north beside it. On a map, the town sits along this line, with streets spreading up the slopes on both sides of the valley.
Because the terrain rises steeply, it shapes the whole urban area: the centre and flatter districts sit close to the river, while neighbourhoods higher up follow contours and small ravines. A Copacabana map poster shows this clearly, with a dense band along the valley floor and a looser, branching network climbing toward the green hillsides.
The town shares its name with the beach in Rio de Janeiro and the lakeside town in Bolivia, but this Copacabana is an Andean valley town with no coastline at all. Its map is a study of river, road and mountainside, and of how Medellín's metropolitan area continues north along the valley.

Valley slopes
Steep hillsides rise on both sides of the river. Streets climb them in curves and switchbacks, and the pattern thins out as the ground gets steeper.
Metropolitan edge
Copacabana sits in the northern reaches of the Aburrá Valley's urban area. The poster shows where the dense, continuous city begins to open up into more rural land.

Miért Copacabana?
Egy térkép, ami jelent valamit
For those who live in Copacabana or grew up in the northern Aburrá Valley, this is the map of daily routes: along the river, up to the neighbourhoods on the slopes and out into the green hills. It is a more personal image than a Medellín skyline.
Set your own title and subtitle, perhaps a family name and a year, and keep or change the coordinates line. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, check the free 900 px preview, and buy the HD files for $9.
