Custoias Map Poster & Print
Custoias lies in the northern interior of Portugal, in the upland country of the Guarda district and the wider Douro region. This is a landscape of hills, valleys and scattered villages, and from above the settlement shows an irregular core of narrow streets and tightly grouped houses, with roads leaving along the contours toward neighbouring communities.
Around it, the land is shaped by long farming on sloping ground. Terraces, walled fields, olive groves and vineyards are typical of the area, and on the map they appear as a fine texture of boundaries and tracks. Roads rarely run straight here; they bend around slopes and follow valleys, which gives the drawing a relaxed, winding rhythm.
A Custoias map poster suits the character of the Portuguese interior. The village core is small and dense, the surrounding countryside open and quietly patterned, and the winding roads link them together. In black and white the image has the feel of an old survey sheet, clean and legible, with plenty of space around the streets.

Winding upland roads
Roads follow the contours of the hills rather than running straight, curving toward nearby villages and giving the poster a soft, flowing structure.
Terraced countryside
Fields and slopes around the settlement are divided by walls, tracks and terraces, which appear on the map as a delicate texture framing the built area.

Miért Custoias?
Egy térkép, ami jelent valamit
Villages of the Portuguese interior are often home to families who now live in Lisbon, Porto, France or Switzerland and return each summer. A map of Custoias keeps those streets and roads in view throughout the year.
Set a title and subtitle of your own, perhaps a family name or the year of a reunion, and edit the coordinates. Choose one of five styles and receive 300 DPI PNG and PDF files for $9, or order a printed poster.
