Valley floor
The main road and the river run the length of the narrow valley. They form the spine of the town and give the whole poster its vertical line.

Darwen Map Poster & Print
Darwen lies in Lancashire, just south of Blackburn, in a narrow valley running north to south between the West Pennine Moors. On a map the town is long and thin. The main road and the River Darwen run along the valley floor, and rows of terraced streets climb the slopes on either side until they stop at the edge of the open moor.
The town grew with cotton and paper mills in the nineteenth century and was known for wallpaper production. Its best-known landmarks date from that period. The India Mill chimney still rises above the town, and on the moor to the west stands Darwen Tower, built in 1898 to celebrate Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee and the reopening of the moor to public access.
A Darwen map poster shows a classic Pennine mill town: the valley, the dense terraces and the open moor pressing in on both sides. It suits people who grew up here, walkers who know the climb up to the tower, and anyone with family roots in the old textile towns of Lancashire.

Terraced streets
Rows of terraced houses climb the slopes in tight parallel lines. They form the dense texture typical of Lancashire's old mill towns.
Darwen Moor
Open moorland presses against the town to the west, where Darwen Tower stands. On the poster the moor is a wide, quiet space beyond the last streets.

Miért Darwen?
Egy térkép, ami jelent valamit
Darwen people tend to be proud of their town, the moors and the tower, and a map is a simple way to show it. The strong valley shape and tight terraces make a composition that works as well in a modern flat as in a stone cottage.
You can add your own title, a subtitle such as a street name or year, and the coordinates line. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The HD files cost $9, or order a matte print with an optional wooden frame.
