Ringed centre
Main roads surround the compact city centre. On the map they form a clear inner loop from which the rest of the network extends in several directions.

Düren Map Poster & Print
Düren lies in North Rhine-Westphalia between Aachen and Cologne, on the Rur River where the flat Rhineland plain meets the foothills of the Eifel. From above, the city centre is a fairly compact area encircled by main roads, with streets radiating out toward the surrounding towns. The Rur runs along the eastern side in a green corridor, and industrial areas and railway lines spread across the flatter ground.
Düren was almost completely destroyed in an air raid in November 1944, and the centre was rebuilt in the post-war decades on a largely new plan. The city has long been known for its paper industry, and the Leopold-Hoesch-Museum houses a notable art collection. The Eifel reservoirs and forests lie within easy reach to the south.
A Düren map poster shows the structure of a rebuilt town. The ring of roads around the centre, the streets fanning out from it, the course of the Rur and the rail lines combine into a clear, legible layout. In the Noir style, the lines stand out especially strongly.

Rur river corridor
The river runs past the city through meadows and green spaces. It creates a natural line on the eastern side that contrasts with the street grid.
Rail and industry
Railway lines and industrial areas occupy much of the flatter land. Their long tracks and large plots give the map a distinctly working-city texture.
