Ferreiros is a small municipality in the Zona da Mata of northern Pernambuco, in northeastern Brazil, near the border with Paraíba. The region takes its name from the Atlantic forest that once covered it, and today it is dominated by sugarcane fields spreading across rolling hills and valleys. On a map, the town is a compact grid of streets set within this green landscape.
Like many towns in this part of Pernambuco, Ferreiros grew with the sugar economy, and its surroundings still show the long field boundaries and farm roads associated with cane cultivation.
