Fitchburg Map Poster & Print
Fitchburg lies in north-central Massachusetts, where the North Nashua River runs through a valley between steep hills. The river powered the city's growth as an industrial centre, with paper mills and factories lining its banks through the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. On the map the river and the railway follow the valley floor together, and the downtown sits tightly between them.
From the valley, streets climb the surrounding hillsides in winding lines, and the residential neighbourhoods fan out across the slopes. The railway line running east toward Boston, today the Fitchburg commuter rail line, gives the city one of its defining connections. The campus of Fitchburg State University adds another distinct cluster of buildings to the plan.
A Fitchburg map poster shows a classic New England mill city shaped by water and terrain. The river and rail corridor form a strong line through the centre, the downtown gathers along it and the hills spread the streets into a looser, more organic pattern. It is a map with real character, grounded in the industry that built the city.

Rail corridor
The railway to Boston follows the valley alongside the river. Its long, steady line reinforces the east–west axis of the city and passes close to downtown.
Hillside neighbourhoods
Residential streets climb the slopes around the valley in winding, irregular lines, giving the edges of the map a looser texture than the dense centre.
