Ridge-top centre
The central streets occupy higher ground and form the densest part of the plan. From there the town spreads out and down along the surrounding slopes.

Frederico Westphalen Map Poster & Print
Frederico Westphalen lies in the far north of Rio Grande do Sul, near the border with Santa Catarina, in the rolling country above the Uruguay River valley. The centre occupies higher ground, and from there the streets run down the slopes in several directions. The result is a plan that is partly regular and partly shaped by the hills, which gives it an attractive, uneven outline.
The town is best known as a university centre for its region. Its campuses bring students from the surrounding municipalities, and teaching buildings and green grounds show up on the map as larger, open blocks set among the residential streets. Beyond the edge of town, small farms and patches of woodland cover the hills, typical of the colonised north of the state.
A Frederico Westphalen map poster shows a town that clearly sits on its terrain, with a dense centre, streets reaching out along the ridges, and countryside close by. It makes a natural keepsake for anyone who studied here, and it fits in easily at home.

Hillside edges
On the outskirts, streets curve to follow the terrain before giving way to small farms and wooded valleys typical of northern Rio Grande do Sul.
