The River Trent
The Trent forms the town's western edge in broad meanders, a strong curving line that divides the built-up east bank from the open farmland of the other side.

Gainsborough Map Poster & Print
Gainsborough sits on the east bank of the River Trent in Lincolnshire, where the river swings in long, lazy curves across flat farmland. On a map the town reads as a dense cluster on one side of the water, with open fields and drainage lines on the other. The river's edge is where the story begins, since the town grew as an inland port serving boats that came up the Trent.
The historic core gathers around the market area and the medieval Gainsborough Old Hall, one of the best-preserved manor houses of its kind in England. Around it, terraced streets from the industrial era fan out, linked to the engineering works that once made the town known well beyond the county. Railway lines cut across the grid and add their own firm, straight strokes to the plan.
A Gainsborough map poster captures that contrast between a compact brick town and the wide, empty levels across the river. The Trent is also known for the Aegir, a tidal bore that can run upstream past the town, and Gainsborough is often identified with St Ogg's in George Eliot's The Mill on the Floss. The river is what ties it all together on paper.

Gainsborough Old Hall
The medieval manor house stands inside the town's older streets. On the map it is a quiet anchor among the later terraces that grew up around it.
Riverside wharves
Former warehouses and wharves line the waterfront, a reminder of the inland port. Their long frontage traces the river bank closely and gives the map a firm edge.

Miért Gainsborough?
Egy térkép, ami jelent valamit
People who grew up by the Trent, or who remember the town's riverside and brick terraces, often want a map that shows the whole of it at once. It works well as a gift for someone who has moved away and still thinks of the river as home.
You can set the title, subtitle and coordinates line yourself, adding a family name or a meaningful date. Choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, then download the $9 HD files or order a printed poster with an optional wooden frame.
