Shebelle River
The river loops across the frame in wide meanders. It is the strongest line on the map and the source of water for the town and its surrounding farms.

Gode Map Poster & Print
Gode stands on the Shebelle River in the Somali Region of south-eastern Ethiopia, in a hot, semi-arid lowland. The river is the town's lifeline and the dominant feature of the map. It winds through the landscape in wide loops, and the streets of Gode spread out over the flat ground beside it.
The town's layout is loose and open, with broad roads, market areas and residential quarters on a largely regular pattern. Past the edge of town the land opens into dry plains crossed by tracks. Patches of cultivated fields along the river show where irrigation draws on the Shebelle's water. There is also an airport close to the town.
A Gode map poster is a study in contrast between river and dry land. The winding line of the Shebelle and the fields along its banks stand out strongly against the wide lowland, and the town adds a concentrated patch of detail. The composition is spare and graphic, well suited to a minimalist print.

Riverside fields
Irrigated plots along the Shebelle form a narrow band of detail on both sides of the water, sharply different from the open dry land beyond.
Open street pattern
Gode's streets are widely spaced on flat, open ground. They form a simple, legible network that reads clearly against the surrounding plain.
