Contour-following streets
Streets bend and branch to fit the uneven terrain, so the town's outline is irregular and shaped more by the hills than by any grid.

Guanyin Map Poster & Print
Guanyin lies in the southern part of the Sichuan Basin, a region of low hills, terraced fields and small rivers. From above, the town's streets follow the shape of the land, bending around slopes and stretching along the flatter ground. Fields and patches of woodland surround the built-up area, and roads leave town along the valleys toward neighbouring settlements.
Detailed public information on this particular Guanyin is limited, and the name, taken from the bodhisattva of compassion, is shared by many towns across China. This map therefore relies on the geography itself: the street layout, the surrounding terrain and the road links that connect the town to the wider basin.
A Guanyin map poster presents a typical Sichuan hill town clearly. The tight centre, the roads following the contours and the fields spreading outward give the map a natural and irregular look, very different from the planned grids of larger Chinese cities, and all the more personal for that.

Valley routes
Roads out of town follow valleys between the hills, drawing curving lines that connect Guanyin to other towns in the basin.
Farmland margins
Around the built-up area, fields and small plots create a soft, broken texture that frames the denser streets at the centre.
