Amazon riverfront
The broad river along the town's edge takes up much of the frame, making Itacoatiara one of the most water-dominated compositions among Brazilian cities.

Itacoatiara Map Poster & Print
Itacoatiara sits on the left bank of the Amazon River, downstream from Manaus and close to where the Madeira River joins the main channel. On a map, the water dominates. The Amazon is enormous here, and the town looks compact beside it, with streets running inland from the riverfront in a loose grid that thins into forest and lakes.
The riverfront is the working edge of the town, lined with docks and port installations. Inland, the blocks become more irregular and give way to roads leading out toward the highway to Manaus. Lakes and flooded lowlands surround the urban area, adding soft, branching shapes to the composition.
The name comes from Tupi and is usually translated as painted stone, a reference to rock carvings found along the river. Today the town is an important port, including for grain shipped down the Madeira. An Itacoatiara map poster turns this meeting of river, forest and town into a quiet, graphic study.

Near the Madeira
Just upstream, the Madeira River meets the Amazon, and the wide channels and islands of that confluence give the surrounding map an intricate, braided look.
Lakes and lowlands
Around the town, lakes and seasonally flooded ground create irregular shapes that soften the grid and show how closely the city depends on water.

Miért Itacoatiara?
Egy térkép, ami jelent valamit
Itacoatiara is a place people often leave for Manaus or beyond, and a map is a simple way to keep the riverfront and home streets close. The scale of the Amazon beside the town also makes a striking image for anyone drawn to the region.
