The metal works
The large plant site near the river forms the most regular shape on the map: a block of long workshops and rail sidings at the centre of the town.

Kol’chugino Map Poster & Print
Kol’chugino lies in the north-west of Vladimir Oblast, on the Peksha river, in the gently rolling, wooded country north-east of Moscow. The town grew in the late nineteenth century around a copper-working plant, and industry has defined its layout ever since. A large factory site sits near the river, workers’ districts lie beside it, and a railway line ties both to the wider region.
The metal works became known across the Soviet Union for brass, copper and cupronickel goods, including tableware and tea-glass holders that many households still keep. On a map the plant appears as a broad, regular block of buildings and tracks. The residential streets around it mix older lanes of wooden houses with the straight rows of later apartment estates.
A Kol’chugino map poster shows the river bending past the town, along with the industrial core, the housing blocks and the surrounding forest and fields. In monochrome, the contrast between the factory geometry and the curve of the Peksha is clear and graphic. It is a fitting portrait for anyone who grew up with the works as part of daily life.

Peksha river
The small river curves through Kol’chugino, with open ground and greenery along parts of its banks that soften the edges of the industrial core.
Mixed housing
Lanes of low private houses sit beside Soviet-era apartment blocks, so the street pattern shifts between a fine, irregular grain and larger rectangular estates.
