Ladysmith Map Poster & Print
Ladysmith lies in the northwest of KwaZulu-Natal, on the Klip River, which winds through the town in a series of sharp bends. On a map, the river is the most distinctive feature. It curls around the older centre, and the streets are arranged to fit between its loops, with low hills and ridges rising on several sides.
The town is best known for the Siege of Ladysmith during the South African War of 1899 to 1902, when British forces were surrounded for about four months. The hills around the town were the positions of that siege. It also gave its name to Ladysmith Black Mambazo, the internationally known isicathamiya choir founded in the area.
A Ladysmith map poster shows a small centre of regular blocks, the looping river line and the hills that close in on the horizon. Railway lines and main roads pass through, connecting the town to Durban and the interior. Newer residential areas extend beyond the river toward the surrounding ridges.

Siege hills
The ridges and hills around the town, positions during the 1899–1900 siege, frame the built-up area and limit how far it spreads in some directions.
Historic grid
The central streets follow a simple rectangular plan, which contrasts neatly with the organic curves of the river running through and around them.

Miért Ladysmith?
Egy térkép, ami jelent valamit
Ladysmith means different things to different people: a hometown, a chapter in military history or the place a famous choir came from. A map of its river and streets holds all of that without needing any words.
You can personalise the title, the subtitle and the coordinates line, and pick from five styles: Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Paper and Sand suit the historical feel of the town particularly well.
