The isthmus
Lake Mendota and Lake Monona squeeze the downtown into a thin band, so the city's densest streets run across a narrow neck of land between two large lakes.

Madison Map Poster & Print
Madison is one of the few American cities built on an isthmus. Lake Mendota lies to the north and Lake Monona to the south, and the land between them narrows sharply around the Capitol. The domed building sits on a square from which streets set off diagonally, overlaid on the regular grid, so the centre looks like a star pinned between two bodies of water.
From Capitol Square, State Street runs west to the University of Wisconsin campus, which wraps along the Mendota shoreline and climbs Bascom Hill. Farther along, Picnic Point stretches out into the lake. To the south-west, Lake Wingra and the university arboretum add another patch of water and woodland, and smaller lakes continue down the Yahara chain.
A Madison map poster is mostly water and shoreline, which gives it an unusually clean composition. Choose $9 digital HD files in six sizes, 30×40 cm through 24×36″, each as a 300 DPI PNG and print-ready PDF, or have it printed on matte paper, with or without a wooden frame, by print partners in more than 30 countries.

Capitol Square
The square around the domed State Capitol breaks the grid with diagonal avenues that radiate outward, one of the most recognisable street patterns in the Midwest.
Campus shoreline
The university follows Mendota's southern shore westward from State Street, with Bascom Hill and the long finger of Picnic Point both clear on the map.

Miért Madison?
Egy térkép, ami jelent valamit
Madison has a large community of alumni who left but never quite stopped thinking about the lakes, the Terrace chairs and walks along State Street. A poster of the isthmus is an easy way to keep a piece of it on the wall.
Put a graduation year or wedding date in the subtitle, rename the title, and edit the coordinates line. The five styles, from Classic black & white to Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand, each render the lakes differently, and Blueprint suits them particularly well.
