Mantua Map Poster & Print
Few Italian cities have an outline as clear as Mantua's. The Mincio river widens here into three lakes, the Lago Superiore, Lago di Mezzo and Lago Inferiore, which curve around the historic centre on the north, east and west. The lakes were shaped by medieval engineering, and on a map they give the city an island-like form, linked to the mainland by causeways and bridges.
Inside that ring of water, the streets of the old centre are dense and irregular, opening into a chain of squares near the vast Palazzo Ducale, seat of the Gonzaga family for almost four centuries. To the south stands Palazzo Te, Giulio Romano's pleasure villa. Mantua shares a UNESCO World Heritage listing with nearby Sabbioneta as an example of Renaissance town planning, and the poet Virgil was born in the surrounding countryside.
A Mantua map poster makes the most of this geography. The lakes read as wide, pale shapes against the tight grain of the centre, and the causeways cross them as thin, deliberate lines. Beyond the water, newer districts spread out more loosely, so the poster shows both a historic core and the flat Po valley farmland reaching toward it.

Palazzo Ducale
The Gonzaga palace complex takes up a large block at the north-eastern edge of the centre, facing the lakes, and its courtyards and gardens show clearly from above.
Causeway crossings
Long, straight bridges and causeways run across the water to the northern shore, drawing sharp lines through the open lakes.

Miért Mantua?
Egy térkép, ami jelent valamit
Mantua suits a wall because its shape is instantly recognisable: an old city held by water. It appeals to people who studied or lived there, to lovers of Renaissance art and opera, and to travellers who remember crossing the causeways at dusk.
Add your own title and a subtitle with a date that matters to you, and adjust the coordinates line. The five styles, Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand, each render the lakes differently, from stark contrast to soft, warm tones.
