Highway through town
The coastal highway toward Tapachula and the Guatemalan border runs straight through Mapastepec. It crosses the poster as a strong line, and the rest of the street grid is organised around it.

Mapastepec Map Poster & Print
Mapastepec lies in the Soconusco region of southern Chiapas, on the narrow plain between the Sierra Madre de Chiapas and the Pacific. The coastal highway runs through the town and forms its main spine, with the streets arranged around it in a loose grid. Rivers coming down from the mountains cross the plain nearby on their way to the coast.
Toward the sea the land flattens into estuaries, lagoons and mangrove wetlands, part of a long protected coastal system in this corner of Mexico. Inland, the ground rises quickly into forested slopes. The town sits between these two very different landscapes. Around it, fields, pasture and plantations give the countryside a patchwork look on the map.
A Mapastepec map poster fits this layered geography into a single frame: mountains on one side, water on the other, and a modest town grid with a highway through the middle. It is an honest portrait of a working town in the Soconusco, drawn in the clean lines of a minimalist print and without decoration.

Rivers from the Sierra
Streams coming down from the Sierra Madre de Chiapas cross the plain close to town. They draw thin, winding lines between the fields on their way to the coast.
Lagoons and mangroves
Toward the Pacific the map breaks up into lagoons, channels and mangrove wetlands. In a wider framing, this dense pattern of water fills the seaward side of the poster.
