Paraguaçu estuary
The wide estuary takes up a large part of the frame. Its smooth outline sets off the compact town on the shore and leads the eye towards the bay.

Maragogipe Map Poster & Print
Maragogipe lies in the Recôncavo of Bahia, the fertile region around the Bay of All Saints, on the wide estuary of the Paraguaçu River. The town faces the water. On a map its older streets run down towards the riverbank, and mangroves, tidal channels and green hills surround the built-up area.
The town's history goes back to the colonial period, and its old centre still keeps churches and townhouses from that time. The Maragogype coffee variety, known for its unusually large beans, takes its name from the area. Maragogipe is also known for its carnival, whose masked revellers are a long-standing local tradition.
A Maragogipe map poster shows a town defined by where land meets water. A small, dense street pattern hugs the shore, the estuary opens out in broad, smooth shapes and the channels branch into the mangroves. With so much open water in the frame, the design is calm and airy but still full of detail.

The historic centre is a small, closely built grid of streets near the waterfront, where the town's churches and older houses stand.
Mangrove channels
Around the town, narrow tidal channels branch through the mangroves and add fine, irregular lines along the edges of the map.
