Highway spine
The Thiruvananthapuram–Kanyakumari highway runs through the town as its main axis. On the poster it becomes the strongest line, with shops and junctions gathered along it.

Marthandam Map Poster & Print
Marthandam sits in Kanyakumari district at the southern tip of Tamil Nadu, close to the Kerala border. On a map it reads as a linear town. The main highway between Thiruvananthapuram and Kanyakumari runs straight through its centre, and most of the streets gather along it. Further out they thin into small roads that wander between houses, gardens and plantations.
The town is widely known for honey. Beekeeping has long been a local livelihood, and Marthandam honey is sold across the region. The rubber, coconut and cashew country around the town also leaves its mark on the map. Scattered lanes and rooftops take the place of a formal grid, so the settlement fades gradually into its surroundings rather than stopping at a clear edge.
A Marthandam map poster shows that gradual quality well. The highway and the elevated flyover built over the congested main road give the composition a strong spine, while a fine web of side streets fills the space around it. It suits someone who grew up in the district, or anyone who has travelled this road between Kerala and the Cape many times.

Elevated flyover
A long flyover carries through traffic above the old main road. From above it appears as a clean parallel stroke tracing the length of the commercial centre.
Plantation lanes
Beyond the centre, narrow roads branch irregularly between homesteads and rubber and coconut plots. They give the edges of the map the loose, organic texture typical of southern Kanyakumari.

Miért Marthandam?
Egy térkép, ami jelent valamit
People hang Marthandam on the wall to keep a hometown close, often after moving to Chennai, Bengaluru or abroad. The print is plain and quiet enough for a living room or office without needing an explanation, yet anyone from the district will recognise the road at once.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line can all be changed, so you could add a family name or the year a house was built. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, then download the HD files for $9 or order a matte print with an optional wooden frame.
