Kangsabati riverfront
The river runs along the southern side of town, wide and shallow for much of the year, forming a clean edge against which the dense streets of the centre are drawn.

Medinīpur Map Poster & Print
Medinīpur is the headquarters of Paschim Medinipur district in West Bengal and one of the older administrative towns in the southwest of the state. It lies beside the Kangsabati River, also called the Kasai, which runs along the southern edge of the urban area. From above, the town is a compact knot of lanes and markets that loosens into a wider pattern of roads, fields and water tanks.
The district played a prominent part in the Indian independence movement, and the town is remembered in that history. Today Medinīpur is a regional centre for education and administration. Vidyasagar University stands on its outskirts, named after the nineteenth-century reformer Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar, who was born in the district and remains one of its most celebrated figures.
A Medinīpur map poster centres on the relationship between the town and the river. The Kangsabati appears as a broad band along one side, while the streets knot tightly near the old centre and then stretch out along the main roads. Scattered ponds show up as small solid shapes, a detail typical of Bengal towns that gives the print a gentle texture.

Tanks and ponds
Small bodies of water are scattered through the neighbourhoods, a common feature of towns in Bengal, and they punctuate the street pattern with neat solid shapes.
University outskirts
Vidyasagar University occupies a campus on the edge of town, where the close lanes of the centre give way to larger blocks, open grounds and tree-lined roads.
