Plaza and church
The central plaza anchors the town, with short streets radiating from it before the terrain forces them to curve and climb.

Momostenango Map Poster & Print
Momostenango lies in the western highlands of Guatemala, in the department of Totonicapán, at an altitude where pine forest, cornfields and deep ravines shape everything. From above, the town centre is compact, with a church and plaza at its heart, while the rest of the municipality spreads into many small hamlets connected by winding roads.
It is a largely K'iche' Maya community, known for its wool weaving, especially heavy blankets, and as an important centre of the traditional Maya calendar. Ceremonies tied to the 260-day count draw daykeepers and visitors, particularly on Wajxaqib' B'atz'. Nearby, the eroded earth formations known as the Riscos form a striking landscape of pale spires.
A Momostenango map poster shows a place defined by relief. Streets climb and bend, ravines break the pattern, and roads leave town in slow switchbacks. In monochrome, this becomes a lively, textured print, very different from the tidy grids of the lowlands.

Ravines and slopes
Deep barrancas cut through the area, interrupting the street pattern and giving the map sudden gaps and sharp, irregular edges.
Scattered hamlets
Beyond the centre, dozens of small settlements are linked by narrow mountain roads, creating a delicate web across the highland plateau.

Miért Momostenango?
Egy térkép, ami jelent valamit
Momostenango is a place of family, weaving and ritual for its people and for the many who have emigrated to Guatemala City or the United States. A map of its lanes and ravines is a quiet but powerful reminder of home in the highlands.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, perhaps in K'iche' or Spanish, and choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The digital files cost $9, or you can order a matte printed poster from a local print partner.
