Pechora delta
The river divides into many channels here, separated by low islands and sandbars. In black and white, this braided pattern becomes the main visual subject of the poster.

Narian-Mar Map Poster & Print
Narian-Mar sits above the Arctic Circle, on the right bank of the Pechora, not far from where the river breaks into its delta and reaches the Barents Sea. From above, the landscape is mostly water. Channels, sandbanks, oxbow lakes and marshy islands surround a town that holds onto a strip of firmer ground along the river.
It is the administrative centre of the Nenets Autonomous Okrug and grew in the Soviet period around a river and sea port. Its name comes from the Nenets language and is usually translated as red town. The street network is small and fairly regular. Port areas and storage yards line the water, and residential blocks sit just behind them.
A Narian-Mar map poster is mostly about where land ends and water begins. The delta's braided channels spread across the sheet like fine lace, and the town is a compact cluster within them. Few places show so clearly how a northern settlement adapts to a river that dominates its surroundings.

Riverside port
Quays and port areas line the Pechora bank. They connect the town to river traffic and the sea route, and they form a hard, straight edge against the water.
Tundra lakes
Beyond the town, countless small lakes and ponds dot the flat ground. They scatter across the map like a fine texture of pale shapes.

Miért Narian-Mar?
Egy térkép, ami jelent valamit
Narian-Mar is remote, and the people who have lived or worked there tend to remember it intensely: the long winters, the white nights, the river. A map is a calm, exact way to keep that far-northern place close, whether you left long ago or only spent one season there.
Add your own title, a subtitle such as a year or a posting, and the coordinates line. Choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Blueprint suits the water-heavy delta especially well. Download the HD files or have the poster printed near you.
