Montsacopa crater
A near-circular volcanic cone stands just beside the centre, its crater clearly visible as a ring the streets bend around.

Olot Map Poster & Print
Olot is the capital of the Garrotxa, in the foothills of the Pyrenees, and it is one of very few towns in Europe with volcanic cones inside its urban area. The Garrotxa Volcanic Zone Natural Park surrounds it, and on a map the town's streets curve around small, rounded hills that are in fact long-extinct volcanoes.
The most recognisable is Montsacopa, whose crater sits close to the centre and is crowned by the chapel of Sant Francesc; Montolivet and others shape the edges of the town. The Fluvià river runs along the southern side, and the fertile basin made the area a focus for the nineteenth-century Olot school of landscape painters.
An Olot map poster captures this unusual combination: a tight medieval core, the Firal promenade and later expansions, all pressed against circular green hills and threaded by the river. The contrast between curving contours and dense streets gives the drawing an organic, almost botanical quality that differs from most Catalan towns.

Fluvià river
The river traces the southern edge of the town, its gentle course separating the built-up area from farmland and woods.
Volcanic landscape
Around the town, the natural park is dotted with further cones and lava fields, giving the outskirts a scattered, rounded texture.

Miért Olot?
Egy térkép, ami jelent valamit
Olot draws walkers, geology enthusiasts and painters, and many leave with a strong sense of its setting among the volcanoes. A map is a good way to hold on to that shape, especially for people from the Garrotxa.
You can add your own title, subtitle and date, and edit the coordinates line. Pick Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand; Sand in particular brings out the warm, earthy character of the volcanic landscape.
