Arabian Sea shoreline
The western edge of the map is a long, nearly straight line of beach. It gives the poster a strong boundary and a sense of the open sea beyond.

Pappinivattom Map Poster & Print
Pappinivattom lies in the Kodungallur area of Thrissur district, on the thin strip of land along Kerala's central coast. From above, the setting is defined by parallel lines: the sandy shore of the Arabian Sea to the west, a main road running north to south, and inland channels and wet fields to the east.
Settlement here is not concentrated in a single centre. Houses sit among coconut groves in a continuous, low-density spread, connected by narrow lanes that run from the main road toward the beach or toward the backwaters. On a map the result is a combed pattern of short parallel lines, repeated along the coast.
To the south lies Kodungallur, associated with the ancient port of Muziris, which traded with the Roman world. A Pappinivattom map poster captures a quieter stretch of the same coastline, with its sea edge, its lanes and the water that surrounds so much of coastal Kerala, and none of the clutter of a road atlas.

Coast-to-backwater lanes
Short lanes run inland from the coast at regular intervals, making the combed pattern typical of Kerala's densely settled coastal belt, with homes set among coconut groves.
Inland waterways
East of the settled strip, canals, channels and wet fields form softer, irregular shapes. Their contrast with the straight coastline makes the composition distinctive.

Miért Pappinivattom?
Egy térkép, ami jelent valamit
Kerala has a long tradition of migration to the Gulf and beyond, and many families stay strongly attached to the exact ward and lane they come from. A poster of Pappinivattom turns that attachment into something to hang on the wall.
Personalise the title with a family or house name, add a date to the subtitle and adjust the coordinates line. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, then download the HD files for $9 or order a matte print from a print partner.
