Planned grid
The eighteenth-century layout gives Ruma one of the most regular street patterns in the region. Straight streets and even blocks extend from the centre in every direction.

Ruma Map Poster & Print
Ruma lies in the Srem region of Vojvodina, on flat, fertile land between the wooded ridge of Fruška Gora to the north and the Sava river further south. The town's map is notably regular. Long straight streets cross at right angles and form rectangular blocks around a central square, and the pattern continues evenly into the surrounding residential areas.
This order comes from eighteenth-century planning, when the town was developed under the Pejačević family and laid out on a clear grid. A Ruma map poster shows that structure plainly: the central square, the straight streets, the railway lines crossing the town, and wide fields stretching out beyond its edges.
Just outside the town lies Borkovac, a lake surrounded by parkland that is popular for walks and swimming, and the motorway between Belgrade and Zagreb passes nearby. In black and white, the precise grid, the curved shoreline of the lake and the straight rural roads make an unusually clean and balanced composition.

Borkovac lake
The lake on the edge of town appears as a soft, irregular shape of water among green space. It is a natural counterpoint to the strict geometry of the streets.
Srem farmland
Beyond the town, the flat plain is divided into long, narrow fields and straight roads. This fine pattern fills the outer parts of the print.
