Cathedral square
The main square and the cathedral facing it stand at the heart of the grid. This is the reference point from which the rest of the town's blocks are measured.

Santo Ângelo Map Poster & Print
Santo Ângelo is laid out in a clear, near-rectangular grid of blocks. Its main square sits at the centre, and avenues run out to the edges of town. Around it, the gently rolling countryside of north-western Rio Grande do Sul is divided into large fields. Roads from the town head toward the other municipalities of the Missões region.
The town grew on the site of Santo Ângelo Custódio, one of the Sete Povos das Missões. These were seven Jesuit reductions founded among the Guarani in the late seventeenth and early eighteenth centuries. Today the Catedral Angelopolitana faces the main square, and its façade was inspired by the ruined mission church of nearby São Miguel. Archaeological remains of the original reduction have been uncovered close to the cathedral.
A Santo Ângelo map poster shows how a colonial-era mission site became a modern grid town. The central square works as the anchor, and the regular blocks spread out evenly from it. It is a meaningful piece for people with roots in the Missions region and for travellers who followed the old Jesuit route.

Mission-era origins
The historic centre stands on the site of a Jesuit reduction. Its archaeological remains lie beside the cathedral, a quiet link to the Sete Povos das Missões.
Grid on the plains
Straight streets and evenly sized blocks give the town a disciplined outline. It contrasts with the soft, irregular field boundaries of the surrounding countryside.

Miért Santo Ângelo?
Egy térkép, ami jelent valamit
Santo Ângelo means something particular to families of the Missões region and to anyone drawn to its Jesuit and Guarani history. A map poster keeps that connection visible in a restrained form, and it sits comfortably in a study, hallway or living room.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates, for example with a family name or the year you left home. Choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Take the $9 HD files in six sizes, or order a matte print shipped from a nearby partner.
