Dense town core
The centre is a tight cluster of streets and market lanes, clearly separated from the more open land around it and easy to pick out even at small print sizes.

Shopian Map Poster & Print
Shopian is a town in the southern Kashmir Valley, the headquarters of the district of the same name, set where the valley floor starts to climb towards the Pir Panjal range. On a map the town is small and dense: a core of closely packed streets and markets, with roads leaving it in several directions towards surrounding villages and the higher ground to the southwest.
Beyond the built-up area the pattern changes. Orchards and village clusters cover the gently sloping land, streams running down from the mountains cut shallow lines across it, and the Rambiara flows along the town's side. The mountain edge of the region forms a natural boundary to the southwest, so the town seems to face the open valley, with its back to the range.
Shopian is widely known as one of Kashmir's leading apple-growing areas, and the orchards around it shape both the landscape and the local economy. It is also the Kashmir end of the Mughal Road, the historic route across the Pir Panjal to Poonch. A Shopian map poster captures a mountain-edge town, its roads and waterways drawn in clean lines.

Streams off the mountains
Watercourses descending from the Pir Panjal, including the Rambiara near town, trace fine lines across the valley floor and give the map a sense of downhill direction.
Road towards the pass
Shopian stands at the start of the Mughal Road, and the routes leaving town towards the mountains hint at the long crossing to Poonch on the far side of the range.

Miért Shopian?
Egy térkép, ami jelent valamit
A map of Shopian means something to families with ties to the town and its orchards, to people who have moved away from south Kashmir, and to travellers who have crossed the Mughal Road. It shows the place in simple form, as streets, streams and roads at the foot of the mountains.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line can be personalised with a family name, a date or a village nearby. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, get 300 DPI files for $9, or order a matte print with an optional wooden frame.
