The Mixing Bowl
Where I-95, I-395 and I-495 converge, dozens of ramps loop and cross in layered curves. It is the most striking and recognisable shape on the whole map.

Springfield Map Poster & Print
Springfield lies in Fairfax County, Virginia, south of Washington in the suburbs of Northern Virginia. From above it is a place defined by movement. Interstate 95, Interstate 395 and the Capital Beltway meet here at the Springfield Interchange, known locally as the Mixing Bowl, a knot of ramps and flyovers that dominates the map.
Around that knot, the residential pattern is classic postwar Northern Virginia. Neighbourhoods of looping streets and cul-de-sacs spread across gently wooded ground, broken by stream valleys and parkland that follow the creeks. Commercial strips and the Springfield Town Center area sit close to the highways, and quieter subdivisions fill the spaces between them.
A Springfield map poster puts two systems side by side on one sheet: the engineered sweep of the interstate ramps and the soft, branching curves of the neighbourhoods. In clean black lines it looks almost like a diagram, a portrait of how the suburbs around the capital were stitched together by roads.

Cul-de-sac neighbourhoods
Residential streets branch off and end in rounded turnarounds, forming leaf-like clusters that fill the areas between main roads with fine, repeating detail.
Green stream valleys
Wooded creek corridors and parkland wind through the suburbs. They leave irregular open ribbons that break up the street pattern and give the composition room to breathe.

Miért Springfield?
Egy térkép, ami jelent valamit
Many people pass through Springfield, and many more have lived there for a posting, a first home or a childhood. A map of it records the everyday: the commute through the interchange, the street you turned into, the park at the end of the block.
Add your own title, a subtitle with a move-in date or house number, and the coordinates line. Then pick one of five styles, from Blueprint, which suits the engineered ramps, to the warm Sand. You can get instant HD files or a printed poster with an optional frame.
