Curving residential streets
Loops, crescents and cul-de-sacs fill most of the area. They create a dense, organic pattern typical of post-war suburban design.

Tuckahoe Map Poster & Print
Tuckahoe is a large suburban community in Henrico County, Virginia, on the western side of Richmond. Its map shows the typical pattern of twentieth-century American suburbs: winding residential streets, cul-de-sacs and generous lots, crossed by a few main roads that carry traffic east into the city. To the south the land falls toward the James River, and the streets loosen into larger properties and wooded ground.
The community shares its name with Tuckahoe Creek and with the colonial-era Tuckahoe Plantation nearby, where Thomas Jefferson spent part of his childhood. Today the area is known for its established neighbourhoods, schools, parks and shopping corridors. Many of its streets date from the decades after the Second World War, when Richmond's suburbs spread west.
A Tuckahoe map poster turns suburban planning into a surprisingly graceful image. The loops and branching streets form a flowing, almost botanical pattern, and the main roads give it structure. For residents, it is a map of daily routes, school runs and familiar corners, drawn in clean lines.

Main arteries
A few major roads cross the community toward Richmond. Their longer, straighter lines tie the neighbourhoods together and give the map its framework.
Toward the James
South of the suburb the land falls toward the James River. Lots grow larger there, and the river valley adds a broad, winding line near the edge of the map.
