The Diemel valley
The river loops below the hilltop town and sets its southern and western edge. On the map it is a soft, winding line against the tighter pattern of the streets above.

Warburg Map Poster & Print
Warburg sits on high ground above the Diemel valley in the far east of Westphalia, close to the Hessian border. From above, the town reads as two parts: an older core on the height and a second quarter beside it, each with its own compact web of lanes. The river curves beneath them, and beyond the edges the streets thin quickly into farmland and scattered villages.
The town's past as a member of the Hanseatic League still shapes its outline. Stretches of the medieval fortifications and several towers survive, and they give the plan its closed, rounded character. The streets inside run short and steep, bending with the slope rather than following a grid. Outside the old walls, newer residential streets and the railway fill the lower ground toward the river.
A Warburg map poster shows how much of this medieval layout remains readable. Around the town lies the Warburger Börde, a broad and fertile plain, and to the east the isolated cone of the Desenberg rises with a castle ruin on its summit. In monochrome, the dense old centre and the open land around it make a clear contrast of dark and light.

Two historic quarters
Warburg grew as two neighbouring towns on the height, and their separate clusters of lanes can still be told apart in the plan of the centre.
Desenberg on the plain
East of town a solitary hill with a castle ruin stands out from the flat farmland of the Börde, a landmark visible for miles across the fields.

Miért Warburg?
Egy térkép, ami jelent valamit
For people from Warburg or the surrounding villages, the poster shows home as a small walled town on a hill, the old centre small enough that most of its lanes fit on one sheet. It also works for anyone who has walked its towers or cycled the Diemel valley.
Add a title, a family name or a date in the subtitle, and keep or edit the coordinates line. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Download the HD files for $9, or order a matte print, with or without a wooden frame.
